We live in a world where resources are becoming more and more scarce. Worldwide we throw 1.3 billion tons of food every year. This is about a third of the entire production. By collecting waste that is already present, we have new means to make new material, for example from fruit.
By collecting fruit from fruit imagers, new material can be made from a large quantity of thrown fruit. With this we give a new value to something that is seen as useless. By means of an environmentally friendly process, trashed fruit can be transformed into sheets of leather-like material. The material can be further developed so that it is strong enough to use in the future for shoes, handbags and other products.
